Thinking Outside the Box

This is a great example of thinking outside of the box. While browsing through images I wasn't sure what this was until I actually looked at it more closely. I think that it's an interesting play between architecture and typography. They make awkward letterforms but are still very interesting to look at. I've always considered words and letters on the sides of buildings but never thought to look up and use negative space to create the alphabet.

Las Vegas Letters

I found a Flickr archive of old Las Vegas signage.

The colors and textures in these photos are great, and I especially like the different 3 dimensional angles that the letters are placed in. This is inspiration for thinking about type in a 3D format and helps to visualize creative ways to place type within a design.

Carsonified Time Lapse

This is a time lapse video, of a designer on vimeo.com with the username Carsonified. They created a video of their work process, which has always been very interesting to me. I love to see where design work starts and how it evolves into its finished project. I think this is a very inspiring video of typographic work, accompanied by Sigur Ros. Enjoy =)

TypOrganism

A particular site I've visited is TypOrganism which is a website that does a lot of interactive type experiments. The concept and design was by Gicheol Lee along with others who did more particular scripting. These contributors can be viewed under the contact button on the main page.
